HEMA Plastron Level 2<\/strong>\u00a0is a type of plastron with larynx guard, dedicated for HEMA. We recommend it to coaches, beginners, and HEMAists who want to increase the level of their protection. This\u00a0HEMA chest guard<\/strong>\u00a0is completely made of materials with 800N puncture resistance, and its inner layer is made of cushioning 3D netting.<\/p>\n

The collar\u00a0has a bladecatcher which stops the blade from getting under fabric. It also has amortization in form of cushioning foam. Larynx guard in this\u00a0HEMA plastron<\/strong>\u00a0meets the requirements of larynx protection defined in some tournament rules.<\/p>\n

There is also an ECO-leather pocket in the front of this plastron for additional strengthening foam which absorbs hit impact. This solution gives an option of modifying the level of protection in the front part. Regardless the presence of additional covers, this\u00a0HEMA guard\u00a0<\/strong>always keeps 800N puncture resistance.<\/p>\n

This\u00a0plastron\u00a0<\/strong>is fastened on back with 4 buckles. Each belt has a regulation, which makes our\u00a0HEMA gear<\/strong>adjustable, fitting different users.<\/p>\n

HEMA Plastron Level 2<\/strong>\u00a0is part of a set including also a\u00a0HEMA\u00a0Padded Skirt Level 2<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0Plastron<\/strong>\u00a0is recommended especially for long sword duels, when torso is exposed for very strong shoves.<\/p>\n

History of a chest protector and its purpose\u00a0<\/strong>
\nPlastron<\/strong>\u00a0is used as outer torso protector amortizing hits. Its name derives from Old-Italian word\u00a0piastrone<\/em>, meaning\u00a0breastplate<\/em>. As you may know, it\u2019s a front part of\u00a0cuirass<\/em>, protecting a torso of a user. In ancient times\u00a0cuirass<\/em>\u00a0was made of materials like hardened leather. Greeks, but later also Romans, casted\u00a0cuirasses<\/em>\u00a0with image of musculature. In Middle Ages such\u00a0chest protectors<\/strong>\u00a0were worn usually on chain armor or as part of plate armor.<\/p>\n
